I’ve always been passionate about raising money for charity. Unfortunately I’ve never really has the tools to help me except to just donate money, however this year that’s all changed. On May 18, 2019 I was lucky enough to have the resources to conduct photoshoots in order to raise money for charity.
The charity I decided to raise money for was Coastal West Sussex Mind, they are based: The Gateway, 8-10 Durrington Lane, Worthing, BN13 2QG
I decided to raise money specifically for Coastal West Sussex Mind because they are ‘our local.’ Coastal West Sussex Mind is situated literally down the road from where I am based, and a very easy distance from anyone in Worthing or West Sussex in general. They also have a team based in Littlehampton (23 Maltravers Drive, Littlehampton, BN17 5EY). Unfortunately I have personally battled with Mental Health, and I also know a lot of people, close family and friends who have battled/are battling with Mental Health. I am also trying to raise awareness that Coastal West Sussex Mind is local for people who prefer talking face to face or would like to get involved in their workshops. ‘In 2017 there were 6,213 suicides in the UK and Republic of Ireland’ – The Samaritans
There is a lot of false stigma about mental health, and we as a society are too afraid to talk about what is going on. Mental health is nothing to be ashamed of and we should be talking about it more. – ‘We should find talking about mental health as easy as going to the doctor with a cold’
I would like to mention a few business such as The Heene Community Centre – if it wasn’t for you guys, I wouldn’t of had a space big enough to host the photoshoots I preformed. One Stop Party Shop – thank you for lending me Elsa and Spider-Man for some meet the character’s photoshoots, and lastly Thank you to all the families and couples who came down and got involved! If it wasn’t for you, this day wouldn’t have been a success.
If you or someone you know wants to have a chat about their mental health, click here this link will direct you to the Coastal West Sussex Mind ‘useful numbers’ page where you will find contact numbers to ring. Direct to Mind, the Samaritans and more. If you need to talk about mental health contact someone today. ‘One in four adults and one in 10 children experience mental illness, and many more of us know and care for people who do’ – NHS
I’m waiting for a confirmation from Coastal West Sussex Mind for a ‘to the penny’ total however I know it’s not that far from £350.00! Absolutely amazing! Thank you! 🙂
